It’s important to remember where you come from… I come from a town that isn’t small nor big in a neighborhood with mostly boys that I loved to beat up on… and Dan is one of those boys. We grew up getting each other into trouble, shooting hoops on the basketball court, flashlight tag past curfew and the list goes on. It wasn’t a surprise that Dan and I went to our high school prom together and like any brother/sister relationship we fought a few good fights, but at the end of the day…I was just preparing him for that special lady, Lindsay! (You are welcome Dan.)
Every time we talked he would talk about how much he adored her, how kind she is, how she makes him laugh, and most importantly the fact she puts up with him! I knew I loved her before I even met her!!! When we did meet, I couldn’t help but to cry because I knew she was the one. It wasn’t too long after their engagement, they asked if I would help out and I couldn’t have been more excited! My main job was to bring the cake and cupcakes up from St. Louis in 100+ heat, no pressure or anything. With Lindsay’s keen eye for style and Dan being so organized I knew it was going to be a fun one to plan. Lindsay did most of the work because the wedding was in Springfield, IL so I can only take credit for making sure the wedding ran smoothly… well and making sure they made their honeymoon flight. Every last detail was touched on, the vases, cake top, glow sticks and personalized thank you cards. The weekend started and ended with a few beers, good laughs, many hugs and LOTS of dancing… just like always.
At the end of the day, I could not be happier for these guys… I look forward to sharing all of life’s blessing with them because these are the friends you have forever. Congrats!
