I can’t tell you how much fun it is to work with brides, especially when they challenge me as a designer and planner. Linsey and Cliff truly wanted to give their guests the very best St. Louis experience. At the beginning stages of their wedding, Linsey would describe the wedding as “creepy.” After a few months, I said, “How about we start calling it ‘enchanting’ or ‘whimsical’ rather than ‘creepy!’ We do want people to show up, after all!”
Becky Klein, with Poppies Design Studio constructed the most amazing human-sized trees that served as the focal for the table tops to give the illusion of a dinner party in the middle of the forest. After dinner, we moved to the lower level of the Old Post Office for the dancing portion. Exclusive Events created custom moss-covered chandeliers to add to the illusion. And I even went to the extent of begging Finch Vintage to re-upholster a few chairs in navy velvet, which turned out better than we could have ever imagined!
One of my favorite things about the wedding was that everything was LOCAL! Local Harvest did an excellent job with the menu. The fresh Missouri trout, Urban Chestnut beer and signature honey-ginger infused whiskey were all hits! This was the first wedding where everything was local, organic, and custom to exactly what the bride and groom asked for.
Not to mention she had no interest in having a photographer. Yes, it’s true. But this was one battle I was going to win! I mean they are just as adorable in person as you see in these photos. I had the perfect fit for Linsey: Liz with LPhotographie. Liz has such an easy rapport with brides and never fails to get more than expected when asked (and I ask a lot from photographers!). We had an extremely tight schedule: no first look, afternoon wedding in November; let me just say I had to be on top of my schedule and everything had to happen seamlessly (down to 5 minutes)! These photos literally take my breath away every time I look at them. I knew it would be the best decision they made (well, next to hiring me, of course!). All jokes aside, this was by far one of the most fun weddings I have planned. And I can’t forget to thank my buddy Nelly for making another Kristin Ashley Events appearance!
